Resources for Writers

I like this website because it lists free contests on a regular basis. I have entered a couple and enjoyed following strict guidelines and their writing prompt. It gives you focus and a deadline. You just have to subscribe to their email list and you will have access to the contests.

I submitted one of my stories to this website for honest feedback. They will evaluate your story and give you tangible advice! They also offer classes.

Your local library! Check it out- you can search for books online, reserve them and pick them up at your convenience. Many libraries have audiobooks also that you can download from home! I rarely buy books, I borrow in bulk and take advantage of my local library.

If I do buy books- this website is cheap and ships very quickly!

Chicken Soup for the Soul- they are always accepting stories to publish in their upcoming books, and they pay $200 per story.
